1) Q: What is PlanetNemo?

A: PlanetNemo is an educational subscription web site. Think of it as a comprehensive and fun educational online magazine designed to help children learn and explore in an interactive environment. Everything on PlanetNemo focuses on educational skills essential to a child's development, such as language, numbers, space, logic, and critical thinking. PlanetNemo delivers CD-ROM quality graphics and animation directly to your home, through your computer modem, in a safe, advertisement-free environment. Designed around a collection of enchanting islands inhabited by a series of whimsical characters, PlanetNemo is only available through the Internet - you can't buy it in any store.

2) Q: What is the educational value of PlanetNemo?

A: PlanetNemo focuses on the educational skills that are most important to a child's development, including language, numbers, space, logic, and critical thinking. Leading experts in education and child development created the PlanetNemo environment and activities. All activities are designed to be engaging, powerful, and fun.

3) Q: What is the recommended age range for PlanetNemo?

A: PlanetNemo specifically targets children 3 to 8 years old.

4) Q: My child is still learning to read. Will he/she still be able to use PlanetNemo by himself/herself?

A: Yes. We have designed PlanetNemo so that children can play every game and use every activity in PlanetNemo even if they cannot read. Many of the activities on PlanetNemo will help children learn how to read.

5) Q: Why does it take so long for certain games to load?

A: We're working to make the most entertaining and interactive games for you and your child. Because Internet technology is moving at lightning speed, sometimes the technology isn't friendly to our visitors. We know that if your connection to the Internet isn't super-fast, the wait can feel long. We're working every day with technical experts to find ways to improve your experience. Please be patient. We want you and your child to have the best possible experience online and sometimes that means waiting an extra minute or two. But it's worth the wait

6) Q: Do you have a fan club for any PlanetNemo Junior characters?

A: There are no official fan clubs yet. However, your children may write to some of our favorite characters at the following addresses :

8) Q: Some of the games on PlanetNemo need a plug-in called Flash 5.0.

A: It's easy to download, it's free, and it will only take a few seconds. To get Flash 5.0, click here.

9) Q: I am a Macintosh user, and am having problems viewing PlanetNemo Junior.

A: If you're using a Macintosh, you'll need Netscape Navigator 4.0 or above, or Internet Explorer version 5.O. Unfortunately, any earlier version of Internet Explorer does not work with the Macromedia Flash Player on a Macintosh.

10) Q: If you've got a new version of your browser but it still won't play some of our games.

A: it's probably because you have Java turned off. Here's how to turn it back on:

Internet Explorer: From the View menu on the browser, go to Options. Click on the Advanced tab and put a checkmark next to "Enable Java JIT Compiler."

Netscape: From the Edit menu on the browser, go to Preferences. Under Categories, click Advanced. Put a checkmark next to "Enable Java."

11) Q: I am a AOL user, and am having difficulties viewing PlanetNemo Junior.

A: If you use AOL, we recommend you use AOL Version 4.0 or above. If you use AOL Version 3.0, you'll need Netscape Navigator 4.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher as your Web browser. To upgrade to a higher version of AOL, check AOL for more information.

12) Q: What are the suggested System Requirements.

A: PlanetNemo Junior is best viewed using Netscape 4.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher.

13) Q: When I connect to the NemoChat graphic board, why do I get a blank window?

A: If you don't see the whiteboard and chat window when you connect, it means that your browser has not been able to connect to the NemoChat server. The first time you connect (and after any updates to the site), it will take a while for your browser to download the java classes, so leave it at least 5 minutes. The messages in the status window at the bottom of your browser will tell you if it is still downloading.

14) Q: Are the NemoClubs and NemoChat moderated??

A: It is periodically monitored and anyone overly offensive is kicked off.
